Installing Metal Garage Storage Cabinets
Metal garage storage cabinets have some advantages over wood, especially when it comes to safety and life span. Cabinets can be an excellent addition to a garage, which provides storage that is safe, clean and safe for tools, automotive supplies and other materials. With your little knowledge and care, you can do an excellent job of installing cabinets in your garage.
Decide where you want the cabinets to be. Consider the height and amount of free space you need for other items that you can store above or below the cabinets. Draw a line that marks the bottom edge of the cabinets. At the height from the ground in several places, mark the wall, and check the line to see if it is level by using a carpenter level. When the line is level, mark it with a pencil.
Nail the 1 by 4 inch board on the wall so that the top edge of the board is aligned with the line you have drawn. This plate will serve as a temporary support when placing the cabinets. Place the first cabinet against the wall, resting the bottom edge of the board. Check that the cabinet is level and plumb, and then fix it to the wall with wood screws. The screws should be long enough to sink 1 1/2 inches into the wall studs.
